Suki is a Bengal cat living in Alberta, Canada, who became an Instagram sensation for a very unusual reason: rather than lounging on a sofa, she spends her days hiking through some of Western Canada's most spectacular scenery. Her owner, photographer Martina Gutfreund, wanted a companion she could take on outdoor trips, adopted Suki as a kitten and patiently leash-trained her — and the striking photographs that followed, of a rosette-spotted cat set against turquoise lakes, snowy peaks and autumn forests, quickly drew a following that grew into the millions.

Bengals are famously high-energy and intelligent, needing far more stimulation than the average house cat, and Suki's adventurous lifestyle is a natural fit for the breed. Her account documents canoe trips, mountain hikes and camping expeditions, often alongside a rescue dog companion, presenting a picture of the outdoors seen through the eyes of an unusually bold and curious cat.

Beyond the beautiful images, Suki has helped popularise the whole idea of the 'adventure cat' — showing that, with careful training, the right harness and a suitable temperament, some cats can safely enjoy the wider world. Her fame has grown into a book of her travels, spreading the message that feline enrichment can come in many forms.

Suki stands as a modern example of the internet-famous cat: not a meme or a viral accident, but a carefully cared-for pet whose owner's photography turned an ordinary bond into an inspiration for cat lovers everywhere.

Fun fact: Suki is always wearing a safety leash outdoors — in many of her most breathtaking photos it has simply been edited out afterwards to give a cleaner image.
