Tiffany Two was a tortoiseshell cat born in San Diego, California, in March 1988, who lived with her owner Sharon Voorhees for her entire, extraordinarily long life. In 2015 Guinness World Records recognised her as the oldest living cat in the world, by which point she was 27 years old — an age that, in rough human terms, runs well past a century.
Voorhees had taken Tiffany Two in as a kitten, and the pair were together for more than a quarter of a century. Even in great old age Tiffany Two was described as alert, characterful and still very much the boss of her household, if a little slower and fonder of sleeping than in her youth. Her owner attributed her longevity to good food, attentive care and a steady, well-loved home life, though a share of lucky genetics almost certainly played its part.
Tiffany Two died later in 2015 at the age of 27. She stands in a small and celebrated group of record-holding elderly cats — alongside names such as Creme Puff and Ma — whose long lives capture the public imagination and offer a hopeful reminder of just how many years a cherished indoor cat can be given with good care.
