- 1 small carrot (cooked soft and mashed)
- A very small pinch of freshly grated ginger (about 1/8 tsp)
- 1 egg white
- 2 tbsp oat flour
👩🍳 Method
- Poach the chicken breast in unsalted water until cooked through, then cool and mince finely.
- Steam or boil the carrot until very soft and mash it smooth.
- Combine the chicken, carrot, the tiny pinch of grated ginger, egg white and oat flour.
- Shape into small flat rounds on a lined baking tray.
- Bake at 175°C (350°F) for about 15 minutes until set and lightly golden.
- Cool fully before serving, and start with just one to check it agrees with your cat.
Nutrition: Lean chicken supplies easily digestible protein, soft carrot adds gentle fibre and beta-carotene, and a whisper of ginger offers a mild, traditional tummy-settling touch.
📝 Notes
Ginger is considered safe for cats in very small amounts and is sometimes used to settle mild nausea, but use no more than a tiny pinch and skip it entirely for pregnant cats or cats on medication without your vet's okay. Any cat with ongoing vomiting needs a vet, not a treat. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days; keep treats under 10% of daily calories.
