Chicken Liver Pâté
A smooth, spreadable pâté made entirely from whole ingredients. Looks fancy, cats obsess over it. Works beautifully as a meal topper to encourage picky eaters.

🧺 Ingredients
- 150g chicken livers
- 100g chicken breast
- 1 tsp unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp water or unsalted chicken stock
- Pinch of dried thyme (optional, cats can tolerate small amounts)
👩🍳 Method
- Rinse chicken livers well and pat dry. Trim any connective tissue or green-tinged areas.
- Cut chicken breast into small cubes.
- Melt butter in a pan over low-medium heat.
- Add chicken breast and cook gently until no longer pink, about 8 minutes.
- Add chicken livers and cook for 5–6 minutes until browned but still slightly pink inside.
- Add water/stock and simmer for 2 minutes, scraping up any bits from the pan.
- Transfer everything including cooking juices to a blender.
- Blitz until completely smooth — add a splash more water if needed for consistency.
- Pour into small containers, cool fully, then refrigerate.
Nutrition: Chicken livers are extraordinarily nutrient-dense — a rich source of vitamin A, iron, B12, folate, and taurine (the essential amino acid cats cannot synthesise). This pâté is particularly valuable for cats with poor appetites or those recovering from illness.
📝 Notes
Like all liver-containing recipes, limit to 2–3 times per week as a meal topper rather than a full meal. Keeps refrigerated for 4–5 days in sealed containers. Freeze in ice cube trays for portion-controlled servings — lasts 2 months frozen. Thaw overnight in the fridge.
