🧺 Ingredients

  • 80 g cooked, peeled prawns, finely chopped
  • 1 small carrot, cooked soft and mashed
  • 1 tbsp oat flour
  • 1 small egg white

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 170°C (fan 150°C) and line a tray with parchment.
  2. Mash the cooked prawns and carrot together into a coarse paste.
  3. Stir in the oat flour and egg white to bind the mixture.
  4. Roll into tiny pea-sized balls and flatten slightly on the tray.
  5. Bake for 12–15 minutes until firm and lightly set, then cool before serving.
Nutrition: Prawns are naturally low in fat but high in tempting animal protein and taurine, making these a light, waistline-friendly reward, while a little egg white and soft carrot bind them without adding heavy calories.

📝 Notes

Use plain cooked prawns with no salt, garlic or seasoning, and serve only as an occasional treat. Prawns are rich, so keep portions tiny, and refrigerate the bites for up to three days.

⚕️ Before you cook for your cat

  • Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
  • Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
  • Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
