🧺 Ingredients

  • 8 small cooked prawns (peeled, deveined, chopped)
  • 2 tbsp cooked courgette (grated and squeezed dry)
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tbsp oat flour

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Preheat oven to 170°C (340°F) and line a small tray with parchment.
  2. Chop the cooked prawns finely and grate the courgette, squeezing out excess moisture.
  3. Combine prawns, courgette, egg white, and oat flour into a soft mixture.
  4. Spoon small mounds onto the tray and flatten gently.
  5. Bake for 10–12 minutes until set and lightly firm.
  6. Cool fully before serving. Always ensure prawns are plain, fully cooked, and unseasoned.
Nutrition: Prawns are naturally low in fat and rich in lean protein, while courgette adds moisture and bulk with very few calories — a good combination for weight-conscious cats.

📝 Notes

Never use seasoned, breaded, or garlic-butter prawns — plain cooked only. These are a low-calorie occasional treat. Store in the fridge up to 3 days; prawns do not freeze as well once cooked.

⚕️ Before you cook for your cat

  • Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
  • Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
  • Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
