🧺 Ingredients

  • 100g lean rabbit mince, cooked and cooled
  • 1 tablespoon peeled, cored apple, finely grated (no seeds)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon plain oat flour, to bind

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a small tray with baking paper.
  2. Cook the rabbit mince plainly until done, then cool and blend or chop very finely.
  3. Mix the rabbit, grated apple, egg and oat flour into a stiff, mouldable paste.
  4. Roll into small pea-sized bites and flatten slightly on the tray.
  5. Bake for 15–18 minutes until firm and lightly golden, cool fully, then refrigerate.
Nutrition: Rabbit is a lean, novel protein many sensitive cats tolerate well, while the tiny amount of apple adds a little fibre and natural sweetness without upsetting a delicate stomach.

📝 Notes

Apple flesh is safe in tiny amounts but the pips, core and skin are not, so peel and core carefully. Novel proteins like rabbit are useful when trialling a sensitive cat, but any true elimination diet should be guided by your vet.

⚕️ Before you cook for your cat

  • Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
  • Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
  • Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
