🧺 Ingredients

  • 100g fresh salmon fillet
  • 80g cooked sweet potato
  • 1 tsp flaxseed oil
  • Pinch of dried catnip (optional)

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Steam or bake salmon fillet at 180°C for 12–15 minutes until cooked through.
  2. While salmon cooks, boil or steam sweet potato until completely soft.
  3. Remove all bones from the salmon carefully — run fingers along the fillet.
  4. Mash the sweet potato until smooth with no lumps.
  5. Flake the salmon and fold gently into the sweet potato mash.
  6. Add flaxseed oil and stir through.
  7. Serve warm (not hot). Refrigerate remainder.
Nutrition: Salmon is one of the richest natural sources of EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids, which support coat gloss, reduce inflammation, and benefit heart and joint health. Sweet potato provides beta-carotene and gentle fibre.

📝 Notes

Always check meticulously for bones — even small pin bones are a choking hazard. Salmon should be fully cooked, never raw (raw salmon can contain a parasite harmful to cats). Keeps refrigerated for 2 days.

⚕️ Before you cook for your cat

  • Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
  • Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
  • Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
