Plastic-Egg Treat Shaker
A refillable rolling treat dispenser from a snap-together egg
A hollow snap-together plastic egg with a few holes punched in it becomes a rolling shaker that trickles out kibble as your cat bats it around.

🧺 You will need
- 1 clean hollow plastic egg (the two-halves snap-together kind)
- A skewer, warmed nail or hole punch to make holes
- A handful of dry treats or kibble small enough to fall through
- Tape (optional)
🔧 How to make it
- Open the plastic egg and make two or three smooth holes in each half, a little larger than a single kibble piece.
- Smooth any rough edges around the holes so nothing can scratch a nose or paw.
- Put a small amount of kibble or dry treats inside and snap the two halves back together.
- Add a strip of tape around the seam if your cat is strong enough to pop it open.
- Set it rolling and show your cat that batting and chasing it makes treats spill out.
💡 Tips
- Make the holes generous at first so early rolls pay off and keep your cat motivated.
- Use lightweight dry food so a gentle paw is enough to move it.
- Empty, wash and dry it between uses to keep it hygienic.
Safety: Supervise play and take the egg away if it cracks or a cat tries to chew it open, as hard plastic shards are a hazard. Make sure the holes are too small for a claw or tongue to become trapped.
