- About 16 bites
🧺 Ingredients
- 90 g cooked chicken breast, finely minced
- 1 tbsp very finely chopped, well-cooked broccoli
- 1 tbsp oat flour
- 1 small egg, beaten
👩🍳 Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (fan 160°C) and line a baking tray.
- Steam the broccoli until very soft, then chop it extremely finely so it is easy to digest.
- Mix the chicken, broccoli, oat flour and egg into a soft dough.
- Roll into small bites and flatten slightly on the tray.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes until firm, then cool completely.
Nutrition: Chicken supplies the animal protein cats depend on, while a small amount of soft broccoli adds gentle fibre and a little vitamin C and K — a light, treat-sized way to vary texture without overloading a carnivore's digestion.
📝 Notes
Broccoli is safe for cats only in small, well-cooked amounts and should never dominate the recipe — cats are obligate carnivores and need meat first. Introduce a new vegetable gradually and watch for any wind or loose stool. Keep refrigerated and use within three days.
⚕️ Before you cook for your cat
- Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
- Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
- Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
