Chicken & Oat Gentle Cookies
Simple two-ingredient-style baked cookies of chicken and oats — mild, sturdy and perfect for slipping in a training pocket.

- Easy
- Time
- 35 min
- Makes
- About 20 cookies
🧺 Ingredients
- 150 g cooked chicken breast, finely shredded
- 3 tbsp plain rolled oats
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp unsalted chicken broth or water, if needed
👩🍳 Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray.
- Blitz the oats to a coarse flour, then mix with the finely shredded chicken.
- Stir in the egg to bind, adding a little broth only if the mixture is too dry to hold together.
- Shape small flattened cookies and place them on the tray with space between each.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes until firm and dry to the touch, then cool completely.
- Break into small pieces for training and store the rest.
Nutrition: Shredded chicken keeps these cookies protein-forward and appealing, while a modest amount of oats gives them a firm, snappable texture that is ideal for breaking into tiny reward-sized pieces.
📝 Notes
Oats are safe for most cats in small amounts and add a little fibre, but cats are obligate carnivores, so the chicken should always dominate. These are treats and should stay under 10% of daily calories. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for up to a month.
⚕️ Before you cook for your cat
- Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
- Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
- Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
