🧺 Ingredients

  • 60 g raw peeled prawns, deveined
  • 2 tbsp plain cooked pumpkin purée (no spices, not pie filling)
  • 1 tsp oat flour (optional, to bind)

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Poach the prawns in plain water until just cooked through and opaque, about 2–3 minutes.
  2. Cool, then finely chop the cooked prawns.
  3. Mix the chopped prawn with the plain pumpkin purée until well combined, adding a little oat flour if you want firmer bites.
  4. Roll or spoon into tiny, pea-sized portions.
  5. Serve fresh, and refrigerate any extras for up to 2 days.
Nutrition: Prawns offer very lean, low-fat protein that most cats find highly tempting, while pumpkin adds gentle, digestion-friendly fibre — making these a light, waist-friendly reward for treat time or training.

📝 Notes

Use plain, fully cooked prawns with shells and veins removed, and only 100% pumpkin purée with no added sugar or spice. Prawns are a treat, not a staple, so keep portions small and occasional. Introduce gradually in case of shellfish sensitivity.

⚕️ Before you cook for your cat

  • Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
  • Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
  • Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
