Beef & Carrot Hearty Stew
A gently simmered stew of lean beef and soft carrot in a light broth — a warming, spoonable meal-topper for cooler days.
- Difficulty
- Easy
- Time
- 35 min
- Makes
- About 5 small servings
🧺 Ingredients
- 100 g lean stewing beef, trimmed of fat and diced small
- 1 small carrot, peeled and finely diced
- 150 ml water or unsalted beef stock
👩🍳 Method
- Place the diced beef and carrot in a small pan and cover with the water or unsalted stock.
- Bring to a gentle simmer and cook until the beef is fully cooked through and the carrot is very soft, about 25–30 minutes.
- Let it cool, then chop or shred the beef into small, easy-to-eat pieces.
- Mash the carrot slightly into the broth and combine with the beef.
- Serve a small portion warm (not hot), and refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days.
Nutrition: Beef delivers rich, highly palatable protein and iron, while soft carrot adds beta-carotene and a little fibre, and the light broth boosts fluid intake in cats that do not drink enough water.
📝 Notes
This is a topper or occasional meal, not a complete diet. Keep it plain — no salt, onion, garlic or seasoning — and trim visible fat to keep it lean. Reduce the broth if your cat prefers a firmer texture.
⚕️ Before you cook for your cat
- Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
- Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
- Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
