🧺 Ingredients
- 150g rabbit meat, boneless and skinless
- 30g rabbit or chicken liver
- 1 egg yolk to bind
- A pinch of dried parsley (optional)
👩🍳 Method
- Mince or finely chop the rabbit and liver together until you have a smooth mixture.
- Stir in the egg yolk and parsley to bind everything into a soft dough.
- Roll into small, pea-sized bites and place on a lined baking tray.
- Bake at 175°C for around 15 minutes until cooked through and firm.
- Cool completely before serving one or two as a treat, and refrigerate the rest for up to four days.
Nutrition: Both rabbit and liver are rich natural sources of taurine, the essential amino acid cats cannot make enough of themselves, while rabbit offers a lean, novel protein that many cats have never encountered.
📝 Notes
Liver is nutrient-dense and high in vitamin A, so keep it to no more than about 5% of the recipe and offer these bites as an occasional treat rather than a meal. Rabbit is a genuine novel protein, useful for cats on an elimination diet, but check with your vet first if you are managing a diagnosed food allergy.
