- Time
- 25 min
- Makes
- About 12 mini pieces
🧺 Ingredients
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 40 g cooked salmon, flaked and bones removed
- 1 tbsp finely chopped cooked spinach, squeezed dry
- 1 tbsp water
👩🍳 Method
- Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F) and lightly grease a mini muffin tin.
- Whisk the eggs with the water until smooth.
- Stir in the flaked salmon and finely chopped spinach.
- Spoon into the mini muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes until set, then cool fully and cut into small pieces before serving.
Nutrition: Egg and salmon together deliver complete, highly digestible protein, while the frittata's soft set texture suits senior cats and those who prefer a moist, savoury treat over a crunchy one.
📝 Notes
Always double-check cooked salmon for tiny bones before flaking. Offer only a small amount of spinach, as it is high in oxalates and unsuitable for cats prone to urinary crystals — skip it entirely for those cats. Treats like this should stay under 10% of daily calories.
⚕️ Before you cook for your cat
- Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
- Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
- Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
