Lamb & Pea Sensitive-Tummy Loaf
A gently baked mini-loaf of lean lamb and a little mashed pea — a single-animal-protein recipe for cats that do better on simple, limited ingredients.
- Difficulty
- Easy
- Time
- 40 min
- Makes
- 3–4 small servings
🧺 Ingredients
- 150 g lean lamb, trimmed of all fat and minced
- 2 tablespoons cooked peas, mashed
- 1 small egg, beaten
- A little plain water to loosen if needed
👩🍳 Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and lightly oil a small ramekin or mini-loaf mould.
- Trim every scrap of visible fat from the lamb and mince it finely.
- Cook the peas until soft, then mash them to a smooth paste.
- Combine the raw minced lamb, mashed pea and beaten egg into a soft mixture, adding a splash of water only if it is too stiff.
- Press into the mould and bake for 25–30 minutes until firm and cooked right through with no pink remaining.
- Cool fully, then slice a small portion; refrigerate the rest and use within two days.
Nutrition: Built around a single novel-ish animal protein with just a little pea, this simple loaf suits cats on limited-ingredient regimes: lamb supplies protein, iron and zinc, while a spoonful of mashed pea adds gentle soluble fibre and a soft, binding texture.
📝 Notes
Offer as an occasional topper or treat, not a complete diet. Lamb is a rich meat, so trim it well and keep servings small for cats prone to weight gain or upset tummies. Keep everything plain — no salt, onion, garlic or seasoning of any kind.
⚕️ Before you cook for your cat
- Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
- Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
- Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
