Salmon & Parsley Dental Bites
Crunchy baked bites built around salmon and fresh parsley. The firm texture gives teeth a little workout and the parsley helps freshen breath.

- Makes
- About 20 small bites
🧺 Ingredients
- 1 can salmon in water (drained) or 100g cooked fresh salmon
- 1 egg
- 3 tbsp oat flour
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley (finely chopped)
- 1 tbsp rolled oats
👩🍳 Method
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a tray with parchment.
- Flake the drained salmon finely, removing any bones.
- Mix salmon, egg, oat flour, oats and parsley into a firm dough.
- Pinch off pea-sized pieces and roll into small firm balls.
- Space them on the tray and flatten each slightly with a fork.
- Bake 15–18 minutes until firm and lightly golden.
- Cool completely before offering — the bites firm up further as they cool.
Nutrition: Salmon supplies protein and omega-3 fatty acids for skin, coat and joints. Parsley is a natural breath freshener, and the firm bake encourages chewing that helps reduce plaque.
📝 Notes
The firmer you bake them, the better they scrub teeth — but never so hard they risk a tooth. Store airtight in the fridge up to 5 days, or freeze up to 2 months. These are a treat, not a meal replacement; keep treats under 10% of daily calories.
