🧺 Ingredients

  • 100 g lean turkey mince (no seasoning)
  • 1 tablespoon cooked, mashed parsnip
  • A little plain water or plain unsalted broth to loosen

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Poach or dry-fry the turkey mince gently until fully cooked through, breaking up any clumps.
  2. Drain off any fat and let the meat cool to lukewarm.
  3. Steam a small piece of parsnip until soft, then mash it smooth.
  4. Fold the mashed parsnip through the cooked turkey.
  5. Loosen to a soft, moist texture with a spoonful of plain water or unsalted broth.
  6. Serve a small amount at room temperature; refrigerate and use within two days.
Nutrition: Turkey is a lean, highly digestible protein rich in the amino acids cats need, while a little parsnip adds gentle fibre and a naturally sweet flavour that can tempt a hesitant eater.

📝 Notes

Parsnip is a starchy vegetable, so keep it to a small spoonful — it is a flavour-and-fibre accent, not a staple. Cook everything plainly with no onion, garlic, salt or seasoning, all of which are harmful to cats.

⚕️ Before you cook for your cat

  • Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
  • Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
  • Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
