Turkey & Sardine Omega Loaf
Lean cooked turkey bound with a little mashed sardine and egg, baked into a soft sliceable loaf — a gentle, omega-rich meal topper for everyday bowls.

- Time
- 40 min
- Makes
- About 5 small portions
🧺 Ingredients
- 150 g plain cooked turkey mince, no seasoning
- 1 sardine in spring water, drained and mashed (bones mashed in for calcium)
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 tbsp cooked, mashed pumpkin
- 1 tbsp plain water, to loosen if needed
👩🍳 Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (fan 160°C) and lightly grease a small loaf tin or ramekin.
- Cook the turkey mince gently in a dry pan until no pink remains, then let it cool a little.
- Mash the drained sardine thoroughly, working the soft bones in so no sharp pieces remain.
- Combine the turkey, sardine, beaten egg and mashed pumpkin in a bowl and mix to a soft, even paste, adding a splash of water only if it looks dry.
- Press the mixture into the tin and bake for 20–25 minutes, until set firm and cooked through.
- Cool completely, then turn out and slice into small cat-sized portions before serving.
Nutrition: Lean turkey supplies easily-digested protein while the single mashed sardine adds omega-3 fatty acids for a glossy coat and its softened bones a little natural calcium. The egg binds the loaf and adds complete protein, and a spoon of pumpkin brings gentle fibre without heaviness.
📝 Notes
Serve as a whole meal in small amounts or crumble a slice over regular food as a topper. Keeps in the fridge for up to three days, or freeze individual slices.
